After the causticizing process the slurry of white liquor and lime mud are separated in the white liquor clarifier. Synthex Organics manufactures polymers used to optimize the settling of solids in the clarifier. The resultant white liquor exiting the clarifier is targeted at less than 20 parts per million of suspended solids and is recycled back to the digester.
